  • Macs, for dual-booting -> Several PCs for stationary machines along the walls
• Monitors
  • Large, mounted on the Desks
  • Should support "plugging in" so students can use their own laptops
• Printer

Furniture:

  • ✅ order rest of chairs (all black)

Facilities:

  • ✅ decide on whether we can make it an open ceiling (gains window space!) Ceiling will be replaced, 2x2 tiles

  • ✅ Take the red and gray from the IT office
  • Make the trim white

  • ✅ Take the gray patterned one from the IT Office

Layout

• Wheels-- as many things as possible should have wheels. With that we can re-arrange the room for multiple purposes.

• Areas:

  • Open space for tables
  • Printer area
  • Couch area
  • Bar area for high traffic? (Probably not but worth considering) 🔵

• Signage:

  • Large sign on the inner wall (left of the doors)
  • Sign on the outside of the lab

Furniture Colors

• Laminate (tops) for tables and couch: Natural Maple or White

• Paint (metal accents) for tables and couch: Light Gray or Shadow

• Fabric for couch: Ruby, Charm, or Pot

Message to Students for Contributing

WPI Data Science students:

Now that we have two rooms in Atwater Kent (AK013 and AK123), we must fill them with furniture and equipment so you can continue to live happy and productive lives as students.

To do that we need your help.

This page is a collaborative document.
To contribute, add your ideas and discussion about what this space could be in comments, and I'll integrate them in the main document.

Below are my initial thoughts on possibilities (not final decisions).
If something's missing, comment.
